AOA Identification Requirements
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has recently issued a new security directive (SD) affecting all individuals who access commercial service airports. The SD will become effective June 1, 2009.

In order to comply with the SD the Montrose Regional Airport is required to establish new procedures for anyone needing access to the Airport. The new SD also requires Airport personnel to submit applicants' names to the TSA so that a Security Threat Assessment (STA) can be conducted. Once the STA has been completed the Airport is required to issue a formalized identification to anyone requiring airside access which is also known as air operations area (AOA). Those affected will be current gate card holders, hangar owners, pilots, businesses, and vendors, etc.

To begin the process to receive the AOA ID, please come to the Airport Security Coordinator office located behind the Mountain Limo counter in the passenger terminal. You must bring with you two original forms of approved identification. A list of approved ID can be found by clicking the link below. You will be required to complete an application and take a test. A fee of $50.00 will be charged for this process and must be paid before completing the application and test. Once the paperwork is completed it could take up to two weeks for the Airport to receive the STA results and issue the ID badge.  For additional information please contact the Airport Security Coordinator at (970) 252-5813.

For your convenience we will validate your paid parking ticket during your visit. For any other questions or concerns, please contact the Airport Administration Office 8-5pm at 970-249-3433, extension 0.
